Having exploded on the scene as a DJ to watch back in 2004, Anil Chawla has since soared through the ranks of the music world to establish himself as one of the UK’s most hotly-tipped electronic DJ/Producers of recent years. Now an internationally established DJ and Global Underground-signed recording artist, 2008 has seen yet more rapid growth to Anil’s already illustrious career, with 2009 set to be his biggest year yet... In early 2009, Anil releases his debut artist album (co-written & produced with Dale Anderson) through one of the most famous and influential dance music labels of all time – Global Underground. Having already released four original tracks and three remixes for the imprint, the as yet untitled LP is set to catapult Anil yet further onto the world’s musical senses as we can expect a rich and diverse mix of tracks across the electronic spectrum. Whispers of a collaboration with Justin Robertson (on vocals) have us eager with anticipation and early plays on his travels around the world suggest he has a real monster on his hands – watch out! Already firmly established as a DJ of the highest calibre via his acclaimed Together/Turnmills residency and a feast of festival and club guest spots the world over, the last few years have seen Anil make significant progress as a Producer. With releases on revered labels Saved, Cr2, Kill Brique, Vapour and of course Global Underground amongst many others, Anil’s reputation in the studio has made the biggest players on the planet sit up and take notice. Sasha, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Angello, James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli are just a handful of the clubbing elite currently championing his deep, melodic-funk and freaky-acid house all over the globe, and its certainly paid off, with remix requests flooding in from the likes of Adam Freeland and Francois Dubois to name a few. Anil has literally just returned from a headline tour of South America for Global Underground, taking in dates across Argentina, Peru and Guatemala - including a sell-out show at Pacha, Buenos Aires. Later this month he’ll be rocking up at London’s prestigious South West Four festival, before a date with Sasha awaits him a week later at Ministry of Sound (another GU party). Then it’s onto India in September for a whirlwind tour. Earlier highlights this year included more international dates at the Sunburn Festival (Goa), GU in Dubai, Snowbombing (Austria), plus trips to Sweden, Lithuania and Ibiza. The latter saw Anil play for Lovebox as part of Pete Tong’s new Wonderland party and a stint at Cafe Mambo, where his ‘Leftorium’ track (one of the biggest selling deep house records of 2007 on Beatport) is one of this summers choice ‘sunset’ cuts – quite an honour indeed! A little closer to home, Anil was asked to play at two of the three closing parties at Turnmills, which saw him share the decks with The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Danny Rampling no less!! Anil now regularly shares the bill with the world’s finest every weekend; whether it be the techno tones of Carl Cox and Sven Vath, the rock n’ rave beats of 2manydjs and Simian Mobile Disco or the electronic edge of Nic Fanciulli and Francois K... Anil’s versatility makes him a rare breed on the circuit and a true model professional. The London-based DJ can count on Pete Tong, John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo for on-going radio support - including the recent ‘Together’ EP (Kill Brique), and his tracks are fast appearing on compilations worldwide (GU Unmixed, Renaissance, Underwater etc). In 2005/2006 Anil hosted his very own 2 Hour monthly Radio show for Ministry of Sound Radio and his appearance earlier this year on the Trophy Twins Radio 1 show for their much sought after ‘Producer Profile’ slot, confirmed his arrival as one of the UK’s most talked about rising stars. With further support from dance bibles DJ Magazine and Mixmag, a packed international tour diary and the imminent release of his debut album... it looks like clubland has just found its newest superstar. Anil appears on Cubism with his awesome tech house fuelled 3 track EP with Sam Ball.
